DDAWNY is sharing several resources and opportunities to help our members stay engaged in advocacy this fall.
NYDA has developed SFY 2027–28 Budget Priorities, a one-page resource that agencies can use when communicating with elected representatives. We are also sharing October social media resources to help agencies amplify key advocacy messages through their own social media channels.
Members are encouraged to participate in upcoming legislative advocacy, including DDAWNY’s Rochester Legislative Roundtable on November 16 and Buffalo-area Legislative Roundtable on November 17. NYDA will also hold a Rally at the Capitol in Albany on November 16.
DDAWNY is also conducting individual conversations with state and federal candidates seeking election or reelection in November. Jeff Paterson, Chair of DDAWNY’s Government Affairs Committee, is facilitating the conversations. This year’s recorded format will provide a program featuring participating candidates, along with individual clips that can be shared by DDAWNY and candidates.
There are many ways to participate in advocacy, and your involvement matters. We encourage members to use these resources, share them with staff and colleagues, and stay engaged in strengthening our collective voice on behalf of people with I/DD, their families, and the organizations that support them.
