DDAWNY is pleased to share that the final New York State Budget includes a 2.7% Targeted Inflationary Increase (TII) to OPWDD provider rates with no restrictions on how the funding may be used. This outcome represents an important victory for providers, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and families across New York State.

At the start of budget season, uncertainty surrounding state and federal funding created significant concern for the future stability of disability service providers. Through months of coordinated advocacy efforts, DDAWNY members joined providers, self-advocates, families, and partners across the state in urging lawmakers to recognize the growing operational and workforce challenges facing the field.

This successful outcome reflects the strength of that collective advocacy. Members contacted legislators, participated in meetings and advocacy events, shared stories from their organizations and communities, submitted testimony, engaged on social media, and continued to elevate the urgent needs of the I/DD service system throughout the budget process.

DDAWNY extends sincere appreciation to all members and partners who contributed their time, energy, and voices during this year’s advocacy season. We also recognize the ongoing leadership of our Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Jeff Paterson, as well as the work of our advocacy partners and lobbyists who helped advance these priorities in Albany.

While this investment is meaningful and appreciated, significant challenges remain. Providers across the state continue to face workforce shortages, inflationary pressures, rising operational costs, and growing service demands. DDAWNY remains committed to advocating for sustainable investments and policies that strengthen supports and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Additional updates regarding the final budget and related policy matters will be shared with members as more information becomes available.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this advocacy victory possible.
